The ASC Announces New Senior Director of HR Support Services

The Administrative Services Center (ASC) has selected Laura Hessler as the inaugural Senior Director of Human Resources (HR) Support Services. Under Hessler’s leadership, the new ASC team will work in partnership with Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) and the campus community to grow and enhance the Institute's HR service delivery model to support the rapid growth and complex HR needs of Georgia Tech.

The establishment of the HR Support Services team within the ASC, built in partnership with GTHR, is a big step towards meeting the goals of enhanced customer service, data-informed decisions, improved administrative staff benefits, and implementing more efficient and effective processes set forth by the Administrative Excellence (AdminX) initiative.

Laura brings over twenty years of HR experience in a broad spectrum of sectors including public, private, and not-for-profit. Her most recent experience was in the finance field where she led process improvement efforts in HR in the areas of shared services and talent acquisition. Prior to that, she served as head of talent acquisition for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley Authority. She has spoken at the state and regional level on topics such as the importance of diversity hiring and leading teams.

She holds a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Middle Tennessee State University and has served on numerous boards including a state of Florida appointment to regional CareerSource Board of Directors. She is excited about the opportunity to join the team at Georgia Tech and to be a part of the transformation efforts underway.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys reading, hiking and watching sports – especially hockey and college football. A lifelong learner and history junkie, she’s excited to be able to start traveling again!

Please join us in welcoming Laura to the ASC Team!
